Children Day's Party at LH Bright Sparks

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forgot that he is someone today. - Stacia Tauscher

Every little child is the future of a country. The present children are the future generation of our nation. Hence, it is very importance for every individual to realise the importance of the Children's Day.

Children's day is a very special day for all the children. Universally, Children's Day is a day to recognise that children are important and valued members of the society. It is meant to be a day to celebrate children for being themselves and childhood. It is also a day to listen to the children, to rejoice at their uniqueness and their gifts to us as a person. But most importantly, it is a day of reminder that children lives are matter to us. They need our love, care and respect to grow to their full potential.

In lieu of that, we at Bright Sparks celebrated Children's Day on 9th November 2012 with great pomp and full enthusiasm. It was also celebrated in conjunction to mark the last day of school for the year 2012 before the year end school break start.

The children party was sponsored by The Traders Hotel. Ms. Anna Yoon, together with the General Manager of Traders Hotel brought their team consist of engineers, F & B and some sales personnel to organise the party for the children. There were about 70 children and 30 volunteers came. The children that came to the party were from St. Joseph's Home, Children Protection Society, The La Salle Learning Centre, House of Hope and some individual families.

The party began with a short speech by Ms. Anna Yoon and followed by a thanksgiving prayer by Ms. Margaret Yoong, the coordinator of the Children Ministry of The Lighthouse. There were some performances by the LH Bright Sparks Children. The secondary school children started off the party by singing and dancing the song called 'Chada' next it was 'The Little Red Riding Hood' a short act play by the primary school children.

It was indeed a joyful day and a splendid event of the year. There were a Hi Tea buffet, games and dance for the children. All The Traders Hotel personnel even perform ' Oppa Gangnam Style', a very popular dance of the year for the children.

The program then ended with a bang. All the management and staffs of Traders Hotel, The Lighthouse, the volunteers of Bright Sparks and all the children who were present at the event had an exciting and enjoyable time together. There was so much fun and laughter. Some of the children said that they hope there will be another such event in future.

Delicious food!

Mandarin As The 1st Choice of 2nd Language Learner

Mandarin has becoming the first choice of a growing number of 2nd language learners these days. Many people are learning this language worldwide. Mandarin has been a priority language identified as one of all schoolchildren should be given a chance to learn language.

At Bright Sparks, the mandarin classes had just started with every child from primary to secondary school. There are mix races of children in Bright Sparks but all are given equal opportunities to learn the language together.

The children will be taught how to read, write and speak the language. The teachers will communicate mandarin with the children and though the children are only able to speak simple mandarin words. But the beauty is that the children are able to sing a mandarin songs together as one happy and loving family! Amazing isn't it?

See, the children are paying attention to teacher  Maria at the mandarin class.

I love mandarin. Yay! Now I'm learning how to write mandarin words!

After that, the trainer encourages all the children to practice the first aid skill by bandage one another. There were also question and answer session.
